School Grounds
Home ground
We are very proud of our school grounds. We have a great diversity of habitats for wildlife, a great big playground and field for sports, exercise and just for running around! There are lots of trees, a long hedge row and a wildlife area. We grow a wide variety of vegetables in our plots and greenhouses, as well as fruit on trees and bushes. We have a community garden where we talk and work with gardeners from Heanor.
We do lots of gardening and planting. From March until November there is an allotment club on a Saturday morning where we help look after the beds and greenhouses. We even get a drink and a biscuit!
We started opening our gardens to the public in the summer and to raise a little money to buy seeds. For the last 7 years we have grown and now have an annual Horticultural & Agricultural Show where over 2,000 people visit and take part.
We are very lucky to have 2 bird boxes with cameras in here at school.
It has been a couple of years since we have had any visitors but we noticed this week that someone had been house hunting!
We've checked this morning an there are 7 little eggs.
We will keep taking pictures and hopefully we will get some baby birds soon.
Our mummy bird is a Blue Tit.
17/05/23 - We have chicks!
