GRAMMAR & SPELLING

At Mundy Church of England Junior School, National Curriculum age-related grammar objectives are taught through discrete grammar, punctuation, and spelling lessons; as well as within daily English lessons where grammar is carefully embedded so that children learn the correct use of grammar while engaged in the specific writing focus.

Spelling rules are taught weekly and are also discussed during shared writing. Here at Mundy Junior School, we also utilise a ‘Super Spelling’ scheme in all year groups to deliver additional spelling opportunities. Children have individually tailored spellings that they can study at school and at home.
