What do we want for the children of Mundy CE Juniors?

All about Mundy CE Junior School

Welcome to our new look website, please bear with us as we continue to transfer all of our data from our original site. We do hope you like our new look! – If you cannot find something please do not hesitate to contact the school directly.

Be Happy: “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5.16-18

Our children experience a diverse wealth of activities that provide a significant sense of purpose underpinned by a genuine sense of pride in both themselves and the school. We believe that everything that we do is connected to the pursuit of excellence and that the attitude represented by giving everything your ‘best’ makes a profound difference to your chances of success. The most important aspect for us is that the attitude of everyone connected with Mundy Junior School is positive and helps to prepare children for the demands of a rapidly changing, increasingly demanding world. We seek to do that by instilling in our children the confidence to tackle problems and to embrace challenge. We want everyone who connects with Mundy Junior School to experience a sense of belonging and to be part of that conscious self-belief.

What Makes Mundy Church of England Junior School Unique?

We believe that our school provides an amazing range, balance and combination of opportunities and challenges for our children. Visitors always remark about the atmosphere and marvel at what is on offer at the school. We are a popular school which is oversubscribed. So, what is it that makes the difference? The answer is quite simply that it isn’t one element. Our Church status is obviously important to us but it goes beyond visits to St Lawrence’s and local church representatives visiting us. We are proud of our sporting achievements and our children’s attendance. You can look at our Sporting achievements which are amazing for a school of our size and we are equally proud that 78% of our children represented the school in a sporting event in the 2017/18 academic year, a new high. Our attendance figures are well above the national average. We have received an amazing six Green Flags awarded to us for our environmental work. Our links with the community are significant and we run an annual Agricultural and Horticultural Show which last time (2018) attracted over 1,800 people. The school offers a free Breakfast Club five days a week and a wide variety of clubs catering for different interests after school, with a Gardening Club every other Saturday morning. At the heart of our ethos and culture are our ten ‘Be Statements’, one of which refers to ‘being proud’. We want our children to be aspirational and we want to ensure that we open the doors for them and recognise that success comes in many guises. As well as challenging our children to attain the highest academic standards we also look to nurture and support our children because confidence and self-belief are the foundations upon which success is achieved.

Finally…….

Our children have so much pride in their school and that is reflected in everything we achieve as a school community. I thought that it would be fitting to finish with a quote from our most recent Church Inspection Report …

The school, through its distinctive Christian character, is outstanding at meeting the needs of all learners

At Mundy Church of England Junior School nothing is too much trouble for all staff to ensure the achievement, happiness and well-being of every child.  All staff are committed to the Christian view that each child is unique and special.  The staff work as a mutually supportive team to successfully develop an exciting and creative curriculum where children of all abilities are enthusiastic and hardworking.  The promotion of self-esteem, aspiration and self-worth is a high priority with celebration of all kinds of achievement.
