Below are our topic subjects for 2025 - 2026

This half-term our during Humanities we will be learning about: Our World Tour!
In this exciting geography-based topic, pupils will become explorers, travelling (virtually!) around the globe to learn about different countries and continents. Using maps, atlases, and globes, we will develop our understanding of where places are in the world and what makes each one unique.
Along the way, we will discover fascinating facts about landscapes, landmarks, weather, and wildlife from each continent. We will compare life in other countries to life here in the UK, thinking about similarities and differences in homes, schools, food, and daily life.
As we get closer to the festive season, our journey will continue with a look at Christmas traditions around the world. We will find out how different countries celebrate — from decorations and food to music and special customs — and will enjoy creative activities to share what they’ve learned.
Throughout this topic, children will build their geographical knowledge, use research skills, and develop curiosity about the wider world. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate global diversity and appreciate the many cultures that make our world so special.
In Science this half-term we will be learning all about: Magnets and Forces
Science Topic: Magnets and Forces (Year 3/4)
In Year 3/4, our science topic is Magnets and Forces. We will be using this topic to investigate and learn about different types of forces, including pushes, pulls, and the force of gravity, which keeps us on the ground and makes objects fall towards the Earth. Through hands-on investigations, we will explore how forces can make objects move, speed up, slow down, or change direction.
We will also be looking at magnetism — discovering which materials are magnetic and how magnets can attract or repel each other. We will learn that magnetic forces can act at a distance, unlike many other forces, and will use magnets to carry out experiments and solve simple problems.
Throughout the topic, we will develop our scientific enquiry skills by making predictions, testing ideas, and recording results carefully. We will also use key scientific vocabulary such as force, friction, attract, repel, and magnetic field.
This engaging topic helps pupils understand how invisible forces affect the world around them — from how we move to how everyday objects work. It’s a wonderfully practical and interactive way to explore the science of movement and magnetism!
Remember to regularly visit our school library, and enjoy the wide variety of books it has on offer.
Pick a reading book to read in school and at home.
Have you tried the Mundy Reading Challenge yet? Ask in the school Library for more information.
Our Class reader for this half term is: Super Sleuth by David Walliams.
When the world’s greatest detective is murdered on board a luxury transatlantic cruise liner in the 1920s, amateur sleuth Dilly and her dog assistant Watson, try to unravel the mystery. With thousands of nautical miles of ocean surrounding them as they cruise from New York to London, it’s the perfect place for a murder… OR TWO!
