Year 5 & 6 Home Learning Zone
Welcome to the Year 5 & 6 Home Learning Page
REMINDER of the CORE Year 5 & Year 6 Weekly Tasks:
Spellings:
Practise your current 'set' of 5 spelling words from your 'Super Spelling' booklet, which will be tested through the week. You can look at all of our Super Spelling booklets at home by clicking the spelling link at the top of the main home learning page.
Reading:
Each time an adult listens to you read, please record this on your Booklog Bookmark - these will add up towards achieving your 'Rainbow Reading Certificates' - ALL reading can be recorded not just your school reading book.
We encourage Parents & Carers to listen to your child reading for at least 5 minutes each day, or as many times as you can each week.
MIRODO
You have been allocated a range of Mirodo tasks that you can access via your Mirodo Home page (online).
These Mirodo activities can be used as a 'PRE Teach' to familiarise yourself with the topic before you learn about it in class; or as a 'POST Teach' to revise the topic after learning about it in class.
PLEASE NOTE: We have (online) records of all the Mirodo tasks you complete, when they are completed, what your score is etc!
PERSONAL CHALLENGE!
We are asking you to pick a TARGET each week, that you should independently practise using the Mirodo Practice area (or another source e.g. BBC bitesize).
Year 6 Transition
We understand that the transition to secondary school can be a challenging time for both students and their families. It often involves adjusting to a new environment, managing increased academic expectations, and building new friendships, all of which can feel overwhelming. At this important stage, we want to offer support that makes the process smoother and less stressful. By listening to your concerns and working closely with schools, families, and students, we aim to provide the right guidance, resources, and reassurance to help every child feel confident and ready for this next step in their education journey.
We are providing a booklet from the charity YoungMinds that aims to help support you during the lead up to transition.
Also, during our time together in our final term we will also being exploring the transitional booklet kindly provided by Barnardo's, which we will then provide here online for you to look at.
